More details on Feijoada:

” Feijoada is a stew of beans with various beef and pork products, which is a typical leading dish of Brazilian and Portuguese cuisine, also popular in Angola and other former Portuguese colonies.

The name comes from feijão, Portuguese for “beans”, and is pronounced [feiʒuˈada] or [feʒuˈada].

Feijoada’s History

A popular myth states that the Brazilian feijoada was a “luxury” dish of African slaves on Brazilian colonial farms (engenhos), as it was prepared with relatively cheap ingredients (beans, rice, collard greens, farofa) and leftovers from salted pork and meat production. Over time, it first became a popular dish among lower classes, and finally the “national dish” of Brazil, offered even by the finest restaurants

Sun and Earth                  It is safe to say that many people believe there is something waiting for us after our final moments in the material plane. Still, when asked for more details, their answers vary widely. Some believe we go to heaven or hell; others believe we go back to become part of this One Element some call God.For us Spiritists, the transition is less dramatic. We believe every human being evolves in his or her own way and carries with him or her all the virtues and vices developed in the material plane. We also believe that if you want to know how someone is doing in the spiritual realm, just ask yourself how he or she lived here on Earth. Evolution takes place one step at a time. The good news is “we have a lot of time”. Perhaps the most famous Spiritist report about afterlife is Andre Luiz’s bestseller (through the mediumship of Francisco Xavier) Nosso Lar“. This book has sold more than two million copies worldwide and has been translated and published in several languages. In this talk we explore Andre’s experiences in a Spiritual Colony called “Nosso Lar” (Portuguese for “Our Home”). We follow his steps from the moment he leaves the corporeal world until he finds balance in the Spiritual realm. We navigate through his difficulties and learn the lessons he receives from loving mentors and friends. This Workshop is FREE and no registration is needed.Hope to see you there Where: Blossom Spiritist Society

We have all been exposed to the idea of life after life and never before has the concept been so widely discussed in our media as it is today. But, given all ongoing research in the field, are we aware of all scientific evidence pointing to the existence of the soul and continuation after the expiration of the physical body? Come explore with us a brief insight into the many fields of scientific research uncovering evidence directly related to the existence of life after life: EVP (and/or Transpersonal Communication), NDE (Near-Death Experiences), Memory Regression, Memories of Past Lives, and Mediumship.  For spiritualists and skeptics alike, this is a good opportunity to familiarize oneself with past and present lines of research – and see how it all relates to Allan Kardec’s The Spirits’ Book and the Spiritist proposal.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Daniel T. Assisi, PMP, MCP is the Spiritist Studies Director at Blossom Spiritist Society in Los Angeles. Born and raised in Brazil, he has a Business Management degree specializing in Marketing, and works as Director of IT for a charter school district in LA.
